In Memory of

Paulette Ganshorn

Paulette Ganshorn passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on June 19, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Paulette was a loving wife, beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to so many in her lifetime.  We’ve heard it said from so many over the past few days that Paulette was a “mom” to so many, and she will be very missed, and affectionately remembered by all. She had a heart for people, and always saw the good in everyone she met. Paulette’s beautiful smile and positive demeanor would light any gathering that she was a part of.

Paulette will be remembered for her joyful spirit as well as her sense of humor, fun and adventure. She would always have something fun planned for her many nieces and nephews when she was around them. And had a way of making everyone feel special, and bringing joy and laughter to those around her.

She was also a warrior, which was evidenced over this long battle with cancer.  Her strength to face that fight came from her strong Catholic faith, her love for the church, and the support and love from her family and friends.  Her family and friends were always on her mind, as this excerpt from some of her recent writings shows:

“It’s so hard to say goodbye. My memory will miss you, too...”

Paulette is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerald, of Reno, NV; sisters Carol Smiley of Coarsegold, CA and Charlene Silva of Turlock, CA; brothers George Silva (Sharon), of Clovis, CA and Jerry Silva of Concord, CA. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jan Bower and Margie (Doug) Morse, and brothers-in-law George Ganshorn and Patrick (Yvonne) Ganshorn; as well as her many nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Marie Silva, her sister-in-law Maria Silva, and brother-in-law Chuck Smiley.

Services are currently pending, and will be updated as soon as they are confirmed. The family requests that any remembrances be made in the form of a donation to Childfund International at   https://www.childfund.org/

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the many friends, neighbors and family who have been there to support them, as well as the angels of Kindred Hospice for their support, comfort and help during this time of loss.
