Olga "Nanny Cat" O'Buch

November 21, 1924 — August 14, 2018

Olga “Nanny Cat” O’Buch , age 93, passed away peacefully  on August 14, 2018. Olga was born in the Bronx, New York to John and Mary Malesky.

Olga is survived by her daughter Cindy Huffman, son-in-law Hilary, grandchildren Jonathan Duet and Mattie Huffman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Emil, husband John, son John Robert “Bobby” and grandson Elliot.

“Nanny Cat” as she is remembered by those closest to her, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent her entire life caring for others with little thought of herself. Her pride and joy was her family. She shared with them endless and unconditional love every day of her life.

Olga moved to Reno, Nevada in 1985 and became employed at JC Penney where she worked as a sales associate for 30 years and retired at the age of 90. She was admired and loved by fellow co-workers.  She could strike up a conversation with anyone and truly enjoyed visiting with her repeat customers who would ask for her by name.

She was an avid reader, cataloging over a 1000 electronic books in her lifetime. She liked to use her green thumb in the garden and had a fondness for plants and flowers.   She enjoyed all creatures great and small from bird watching in the backyard to sharing ice cream with the family dogs.

At 93 she was incredibly independent, still driving  and had endless energy. She was always up for an adventure;  you might catch her riding on the back of a jet ski or an ATV. In her younger years she lived in Israel for 2 years and traveled to Lebanon, Greece, and Cyprus.

In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Eddyhouse.org (a homeless /at risk youth organization) or the Northern Nevada SPCA spcanevada.org .  A celebration of Olga’s life open house will be held on Saturday Sept. 15, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Huffman’s home, 140 Gazelle Road Reno, NV 89511. All are welcome to attend.
