Kenny Allen Foster

November 20, 1956 — March 28, 2024

On Thursday, March 28, 2024, Kenneth Allen Foster “Kenny”, loving son, husband, father, (and grandfather) died at age sixtyseven in Reno, Nevada after suffering a devastating ski injury.  He left behind a legacy of artistry, love, and inspiration. A lifelong artist, Kenny's career began with a bachelor's degree in art from CSU Fullerton and he furthered his education decades later by earning a Master of Art from CSU Fresno, and eventually a Master of Fine Art from CSU Fullerton. As with most things in his life, Kenny excelled at his craft and often had his friends and family visit him in his studio while he created pottery. It was a beautiful thing to watch. Kenny also used his talent by teaching ceramics in college art courses and studios. His path led him to Oakhurst, CA, where he met Martita Hornor, the love of his life. Their marriage in 1995 created a blended family and they lived in the Oakhurst, CA area for many years, eventually retiring in Reno, NV, in 2022.  In addition to his artistic pursuits, Kenny found freedom and joy in recovery, celebrating 36 years on February 15, 2024. A man of faith, Kenny's Christianity shaped his values and interactions with others. Finding solace and strength in his beliefs, he spread kindness and compassion to those around him. Kenny was admired for his hard work, love of investing, and helping others. After receiving two full knee replacements, Kenny renewed an active life and embraced his adventurous spirit by skiing, hiking, biking, and playing pickleball every chance he got.  Survived by his parents, Richard and Cynthia Foster of Fullerton, his devoted wife Martita, his children Chris Foster, Tessa Zendner, and Tanya Bohorquez, son-in-law Sergio Bohorquez, grandchildren Bella and Ellessa Foster, Layla Zendner, and Sergio and Sebastian Bohorquez; Kenny is also survived by stepsons Andy, Dave and Niel Platfoot. He is preceded in death by his sister, Susan and his grandparents, Joe and Illa Johnson, and Ken and Velda Foster. A Celebration of Life honoring Kenny will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 12 p.m. in the Chapel at the Masonic Memorial Gardens, located at 437 Stoker Ave, Reno, NV 89503.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Reno (where he enjoyed volunteering) or Salvation Army in Kenny's memory. Kenny’s family would like to thank the doctor’s and nurses at Renown’s Trauma ICU for their care of him during his short stay, the family is also grateful to Circle of Life Hospice for their loving care and for the family and friends who visited Kenny and who have reached out to the family. Also, a big thank you to the Regency at Caramella Ranch community who lovingly provided meals and brought flowers and cards.  May God bless and provide comfort to all who knew and loved Kenny.
