In Loving Memory of Kaylin Anne Mitchell (Lehmus)

April 7, 1986 – October 5, 2025

Kaylin Anne Mitchell (Lehmus), 39, of Sparks, Nevada, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 5, 2025 after a courageous five-year battle with brain cancer. She faced every challenge with the same strength, humor, and grace that defined her life.

Born on April 7, 1986, in Manchester, CT to Walter and Kathryn (Smith) Lehmus, Kaylin grew up with a sharp wit, a deep love for animals of all kinds, and a heart that overflowed with kindness, compassion, and laughter. She carried that same passion and warmth into everything she did.

Kaylin graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Nutritional Science — a perfect reflection of her compassion, intelligence, and drive to care for others. She brought those gifts into her life as a devoted wife to Geff and a fiercely loving mother to her two children, Sebastian and Bowie, who were her greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.

Kaylin’s humor was unmatched—her sharp wit, perfectly timed sarcasm, and legendary meme game could bring laughter to even the toughest moments. She loved The Beatles, cheering on the Bruins, pumpkin spice lattes, and a good beer at any dive bar. Fiercely devoted to those she loved, Kaylin cared for her people deeply—and her animals even more—leaving behind her beloved cat, Aria, and dog, Tig. She had a rare gift for turning ordinary moments into something special and for making everyone around her feel seen, valued, and loved exactly as they were.

She is survived by her husband, Geffrey Mitchell; her children, Sebastian and Bowie; her parents, Kathryn and Walter Lehmus; her sister, Leslie Lehmus, and partner, Dana Doerr; her mother and father in-law Charlene and Ron Mitchell; her brother in-law Tim Mitchell; her aunts and uncles, Nancy Hassett, Susan Brainard, Donald and Sheryl Smith, Roberta and Wally Irish, and John and Sue Lehmus, as well as a multitude of family and friends who will always carry her spirit with them. Kaylin’s kindness, laughter, and light will continue to ripple through the lives she touched. There are no words big enough to capture how much she will be missed.

The family would like to thank Renown Neurology, Oncology and Hospice along with the UCSF Neurooncology and Cancer Care Specialists teams for their incredible and compassionate care throughout Kaylin’s cancer battle. In honor of Kaylin’s life and her love for animals, the family asks that no flowers be sent but to please donate to your local animal shelter or to the National Brain Tumor Society in her memory.

“and when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me, shine until tomorrow. Let it be.” – The Beatles
