Long time Reno, NV resident John Kimberly ('Kim') Prescott passed away in his sleep on October 1, 2021 at the age of 74 following a long struggle rehabilitating from an accident. He is survived by his daughter and sister.
He was born in Connecticut and spent his school years near Philadelphia and later in suburban Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois where he double majored in math and philosophy. Later he completed his MBA at the University of Chicago.
He loved sports and played college basketball in the Big Ten for the University of Illinois. He loved to play golf with his father and often played on weekends or when vacationing. He even played once with legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer.
As an entrepreneur Kim and his business partner built a successful business centered around adapting digital technology to create a proprietary mailing list. The business flourished and was bought out by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Kim is remembered by friends and family for being intelligent, competitive, kind, quick to laugh, and a hard worker. He enjoyed visiting with his daughter and holiday events were a special time for Kim. A tremendous thanks goes out to all who cared for and assisted Kim over the years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family requests that friends make a contribution to their favorite charity rather than sending flowers.
