Gilbert Lloyd Howell

February 21, 1941 — January 29, 2021

With sadness is our hearts, Lloyd Howell went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on January 29, 2021 at St Mary's Hospital. His death was from complications of COVID.

He was born in Columbus, Indiana to Gilbert and Virginia Howell on February 21, 1941. Lloyd enlisted in the Navy in 1957. He married Karen (Black) Howell March 22, 1975. Lloyd continues to serve in the Navy for 20 years until his retirement in 1977. After retiring from the Navy Lloyd and Karen attended Nazarene Bible College, Colorado Springs, CO, where Lloyd became a pastor in the Church of Nazarene. He and Karen ministered at churches in Reno, Nevada, (Sun Valley and Lemmon Valley), Libby, Montana and Kinnear Wyoming. They retired from the ministry after 20 years, in 2005. Lloyd and Karen always dreamed about the RV lifestyle so they purchased a Fifth Wheel RV and that began their adventures living in an RV. They worked at KOAs during the summer and traveled to Tucson, Arizona to stay during the winter where they were active in the Mountain View Church of the Nazarene. After 12 years of the RV lifestyle they settled in Verdi, Nevada where they managed the Riverbelle Mobile Home Park until Lloyd's death.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Karen (Black) Howell, his daughter Allison (Howell) Renz (Steve), sons Kyle Howell (Jenelle), Jeremy Howell (Jane), brother David Armstrong (Pam), brother and sister-in laws Bud and Kellene (Black) Mosconi, and Dennis and Diane (Jackson) Black, nephews Dave and Christopher Armstrong, Dario Mosconi, Gavin Black (Ann), Niece, Chandra Hicks (Don). Grandchildren Jordan Norr (Megan), Megan Leonard (Chad), Mackinley Howell, And great grandchildren, Joseph Leona, Hunter and Reed.

Lloyd was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and friend. He had a great sense of humor and made everyone laugh. Everyone he knew oved his stories and his jokes. Lloyd never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. He was like a light in a room, his personality spread from wall to wall. Lloyd loved Jesus, his family and his friends. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him.

We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their excellent care while he was in the COVID unit and then ICU. We would also like to thank Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial. They have been a wonderful help during this time of sadness and loss.

A celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future time.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE

MercyMe

I can only imagine what it will be like when I walk by your side. I can only imagine what my eyes will see when your face is before me. I can only imagine.

Surrounded by your glory what will my heart feel. Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of You be still. Will I stand in Your presence to my knees will I fall. Will I sing hallelujah. Will I be able to speak at all. I can only imagine.

I can only imagine when that day comes and I find my self standing in the sun. I can only imagine when all I do is forever, forever worship you. I can only imagine.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3;16
