Darla Lynn McKinney Smith

Darla Lynn McKinney Smith, long time resident of Brentwood, CA, passed away in Reno, NV surrounded by the love of her family. Darla was born in Corona, CA to Lila Erickson and Roy McKinney. She graduated from Channel Islands High School and obtained her MBA from University of Phoenix.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother with an adventurous soul that found joy in traveling across the country in her fifth wheel. Whether she was camped beside a quiet lake or parked near the mountains, she was always ready for the next beautiful view — with her favorite drink in hand and a smile on her face.

Her greatest joy came from her family. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She was also her sons' (and later her grandchildrens’) biggest fan, never missing a game, event, or recital — always cheering from the stands with pride in her heart.

Darla is survived by her husband of 38 years, Kevin Smith, a sister and two brothers: Debbie Haas, Larry McKinney, Shelby McKinney; her four boys: Jeffrey (Natasha), Jeremy (Kristin), Jason, and Jordan; eight grandchildren: Avianna, Skylar, Adisynn, Jayden, Zane, Lukas, Cade, Tristan; her beloved dog Finley; and many other loving family members and friends.

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 12th at 3:00pm PST at Blue Goose Event Center in Loomis, CA.
