Obituary

Colton John Cherry, 36, of Reno, Nevada, passed away on November 3, 2025, with his wife by his side. A husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Colton’s presence filled every room he entered with warmth, laughter, and light. His sudden departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will remain a vibrant part of their stories forever.

Colton was born February 1, 1989 in Reno, Nevada. He attended North Valleys High School and made lifelong friendships that stood the test of time. From an early age, he was known for his big smile, even bigger heart, and his gift for making others laugh. Whether through his good nature humor or his signature bear hugs, Colton’s personality drew people in and made everyone feel like family. He was the life of the party, quick with a joke, first to lend a hand, and one who could turn any ordinary day into an unforgettable memory.

He married the love of his life, Tahedah, on November 1, 2019, beginning a journey filled with laughter, shared dreams, and adventure. Their home was a lively one, blessed with three wonderful children, MacKenzie, Axaell, and Trey. Colton’s favorite role in life was that of a husband and a father. Taking his family camping, teaching his kids how to fish and ride dirt bikes, and sharing with them his boundless curiosity about life was what made him happiest. He was the kind of dad who taught through fun and encouraged curiosity. He approached parenthood with the same excitement and enthusiasm that defined everything he did. His children will forever carry with them the lessons, laughter, and love their father gave so freely.

Colton worked for Fireplace Distributors, where his dedication and hard work earned him not only professional respect but also lifelong friendships. Helping others was second nature to him, and those who worked alongside Colton will remember his booming voice echoing through the shop, his not so funny jokes and his goofy laughter.

Colton approached life with enthusiasm, often at full throttle. His zest for life could be seen in everything he did. Outside of work and family, Colton found joy in the great outdoors. Softball, riding dirt bikes, fishing, camping, running his dogs, Popo and Oakley, and exploring Nevada’s hidden trails were some of his favorite pastimes. His love of chasing storms reflected his adventurous heart—always searching for the next horizon, never afraid of a little thunder. He found peace and excitement in natures beauty.

Colton is survived by his loving wife, Tahedah; his children, MacKenzie, Axaell, and Trey; his father, Joseph and mother, Cathy; his siblings, Shawn, Joseph, Lori, Jolene, and Catrina; his aunts, Vickie and Maryann; and countless extended family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

A celebration of Colton’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in his honor.

In loving memory of my husband, Colton John Cherry

*I Thought Of You Today*

 I thought of you today,

But that is nothing new.

I thought of you yesterday,

And will tomorrow too.

I think of you in silence,

And make no outward show,

For what it meant to lose you,

Only those who love you know.

Remembering you is easy,

I do it every day.

It’s the heartache of losing you,

That will never go away.

I’ll love you forever and forever yours,

Your wife, Tahedah
